What other things are there to look forward to at this year’s US DOHaD Annual Meeting?
- “Beyond the Science” Trainee Day – Join other DOHaD students and early career researchers in a day full of professional development, focusing on skills and strategies to advance your career… beyond the science! We have invited speakers to discuss presentation skills, funding avenues and strategies, networking tools and social media, training level-focused advice sessions, and one-on-one writing workshops!
- “Beyond 1000 Days” Scientific Program – We’re expanding our program from the “First 1000 Days” to “Beyond 1000 Days” by hearing from scientists studying influences during pregnancy and early life on lifelong health as well as preconception and paternal health, childhood health outcomes, and adult health outcomes and interventions! See our full scientific program on the Annual Meetings page!
- Explore Portland with DOHaD Scientists – We’ve planned multiple events during the Annual Meeting to get out and explore the South Waterfront district of Portland! Following Trainee Day on July 30th, we’ll be attending OMSI After Dark at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry – this is a 21+ event with local vendors, science demos, and planetarium shows (be sure to RSVP for this event in registration so we can secure your ticket)! On the mornings of July 31st and August 1st, we’ll be hosting Walk and Talk Trails, an opportunity to start your morning with a refreshing walk around the South Waterfront with other meeting attendees! All meeting attendees will also have the opportunity to ride the Portland Aerial Tram to enjoy a reception and poster presentations at the OHSU Marquam Hill Campus on July 31st!
- It’s DOHaD Week for Trainees! – There’s even more opportunities for DOHaD Trainee Development just prior to the US DOHaD Annual Meeting. OHSU hosts a DOHaD Summer Course that will begin July 28th and end with the joint-hosted “Beyond the Science” DOHaD Trainee Day on July 30th! Registrants will get to hear from leaders in the DOHaD field, tour the Oregon National Primate Research Center, and meet other DOHaD trainees from across the country! Learn more about the OHSU DOHaD Summer Course by visiting their website (click here) and take advantage of a reduced registration cost by attending both the Course and Annual Meeting!
